Shawn and Nadia's path first crossed back in 2015 throughTinder, when both were working in Kuwait. On February 14, 2016, after she got back from vacation in the Philippines, they finally decided to go out for lunch as friends just to get to know each other. She will never forget that date, not only because it was Valentine’s Day but because it was their first date and he had waited more than an hour for her in the restaurant without any showing sign of annoyance. They ordered their food and talked. She doesn’t know why, but for the first time, she easily got comfortable sharing things about herself, family and work with someone she barely knows. After a few more dates, Shawn told her he likes her. Though they shared mutual feelings, she chose to hide her feelings to know him more. One of the things that she really liked about him is he’s a complete gentleman. He never fails to make her happy in his own simple ways. He learned how to cook Adobo because he knows she likes it...and the list could go on and on.
The sweetest thing he did was when he gave her a scrapbook that he himself made. As they were looking through all of their memories, they got to the page of the letter he wrote to her mother. Little did she know that he had mailed her mother a letter and asked her permission to marry her. It was a complete surprise. Shaw remembers seeing Nadia’s eyes get filled with tears. He then pulled the ring box that he had been trying to hide from her the whole time out of his pocket and proposed. Her response, “Of course I’ll marry you”. After the engagement, they visited Nadia's family in the Philippines in March 2017, then his family in the U.S. in June 2017. It was one of the most memorable days of their lives.
Shawn and Nadia tied the knot on January 19, this year in an outdoor ceremony at Mahogany Place Tagaytay The exchange of vows was really a "kilig" moment. There is no denying the love this sweet, couple shares for each other.
